Our food industry has made some really dumb decisions that obviously impact the population's health.Helenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14040935102516791637noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3484804115517968340.post-17055490026843327752010-04-24T14:14:59.652-07:002010-04-24T14:14:59.652-07:00Great to see that you've finally posted!! I liked your article but have the following comment:<br />I know you say that it is about personal choices every day, and I agree with that. However, in relation to food how much of a choice is it now really? I watched some of Food Inc. during the week and was appalled to see the extent to which corn is now in our lives. They are feeding it to the fish and to the cows and making it into all sorts of things in our food chain. So, yes personal choices but it may be that whatever we choose we are still just eating corn!Erinehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01675890089527330842noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3484804115517968340.post-86212887315495044832010-04-17T12:00:11.747-07:002010-04-17T12:00:11.747-07:00Yes, I agree.... we do need that same kind of supe...Yes, I agree.... we do need that same kind of supervision or wise mentoring. I got some in my internship (videotaping sessions etc) but nothing formal after that. In some of the long term NIH studies, e.g. TODAY study (sort of the DPP for teens), the RDs do get that level of supervision. Sessions are taped and reviewed by a PysD.Helenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14040935102516791637noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3484804115517968340.post-9284634355254455082010-04-17T11:15:58.596-07:002010-04-17T11:15:58.596-07:00When psych professionals train, they do something ...When psych professionals train, they do something like 3000 hrs of supervised practice. Counseling/teaching clients in nutrition IS a form of therapy. I think we need that same kind of supervision from wise mentors. I've aquired some wisdom over the years, but still need a wise mentor. My parents would cease arguing and my mother would clean up the spill. The rules (1) use a serving spoon, (2) no elbows on the table and (3) get the dog OFF the table. Spilling milk for peace at dinner . . . a clever tragedy.NWolfehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08391250071963852655noreply@blogger.com
